Kensington Gardens

Last weekend I went to Kensington Gardens with my boyfriend for a little sun in the face. It was windy and cold, but I would have that a thousand times more than rain and cold wind like this weekend. I have been out of all day these past 4 days doing tourist stuff with friends and yesterday was raining non stop every time I was outside, very annoying. I just hope I won't get sick because I am not feeling very well. Well at least I look at this jumping shot and feel a bit better. I don't really want to talk about the weather but it's been making life less enjoyable lately, I want Spring!

Saccharine

When I received this collar necklace in the mail I immediately had to put it on. It was a coincidence that I was wearing this dress (also worn with a detachable collar here) but I really like the result. The blush lace dress and pearl collar are a bit too saccharine but I think the black brogues and black tights cut it just enough for my liking. I might try to pair this lovely necklace with something edgier next time, any suggestions?

Camara de Lobos

Camara de Lobos, in Madeira, is my boyfriend's hometown, and in literal translation means "chamber of wolves". The name is due to the little bay having loads of monk seals (lobos marinhos, which means sea wolves) when it was discovered in 1490. Though nowadays only a small colony of these animals live in the Desertas Islands (other islands from the Madeira Archipelago) and there are no more lobos marinhos in Madeira.
When I went to Madeira last month I took these pictures and forgot about them till now. I really wanted to show them because, despite having a bad reputation sometimes, Camara de Lobos is a nice place. Well I lived there for about 9months and can't complain. So lets mention some of the good things, ok?

Nikita.
Farol Verde, a pub that claims they invented the original Nikita (that creamy white drink). That is made of icecream, white wine, beer and a pineapple slice in the bottom. Don't judge by the ingredients, it is delicious! I also love that with any alcoholic drink they offer a  little bowl of peanuts, one of lupin beans (tremoços) and another of popcorn. They also sell Poncha, which is probably the most popular drink of Madeira, but whenever I go to Farol Verde, it is Nikita that I drink, I leave the Poncha for other places...

The bay (chamber) and the fishing boats.
Camara de Lobos' bay is one known in touristy pictures of Madeira. It is also famous as Sir Winston Churchill visited it several times and also painted it. There is even one restaurant named Churchill's in honour of Churchill's visits, I think.
The little fishing boats paint the small port when the fishermen are stuck in land due to fishing restrictions (weather I suppose). Above they had fish being dried in the sun, inside one of the boats. It looks like dry salted cod fish in the true typical Portuguese way, but it isn't. Madeiran do it to gaiado, another kind of fish.

The views.
From several places in Camara de Lobos you get some beautiful views. My favourite being from Cabo Girao, as I showed here (second last picture), But in my last visit I went for the first time to Ilhéu, from where these pictures were taken. In the first one you can see Cabo Girao (the highest cliff in Portugal and the second highest in the world) and in the second one is the small city square.

PS: I was wearing New Look top, H&M jeans, UO shoes, Vintage necklace, Kate Kanzier bag and the scarf from some store in Funchal's downtown.

On backpacks

These pictures are not from today, but they could have been. I had to dug out of the bottom of my closet my warmest coat. Well, these are from last December, the week before Christmas when my sister and aunt visited me in London. Here I am in Greenwich, just to show you my Herschel Backpack!

You may wonder why? Well, the lovely Emily from Maxton Men offered a 15% discount code to my US readers for their shop.
You may find it weird that this is a men's online shop, but I have to confess, that their bags and office stuff I really wouldn't mind having (including some more Herschel Backpacks!!). So I thought you might like some too? Or maybe your male friends will! So use BLACKSHEEP15 for your discount!

I am sorry this is only for USA readers, or for others that have an US friend address to send to? :) Oh, and the shipping is free!

If you get anything from there, I would love to see it, so do let me know!

PS: The code is only valid till the 26th of this month, so hurry!

Mellow Yellow

Finalizing the Easter outfits is my new and beloved yellow dress from ASOS. It seems that my colours for this Spring are yellow and mint. I've already acquired a few mint things, such as this dress and a cardigan that needs yet to be shown here, but has been getting much wear. Though yellow is something quite surprising for me as I always gravitated towards blue and red hues. First I got a yellow cover for my iPhone, when I always wanted a blue. Yes, I still do have a blue one, but the yellow seems to never want to leave it, so I let it be. And then I've been wanting a yellow dress since last Spring I had to give this one away simply because I could barely breathe wearing it. I have been drooling over many yellow dresses but I wanted something simple, as I have many elaborate dresses that I rarely wear. So when I found this basic yellow dress I swooned, even more because of the exposed zip in the back that you can't see here, but I'll work on showing it sometime soon. Maybe when the weather starts improving? Seriously, the sun can be so misleading... I almost froze outside today!

PS: Now I can tell I am developing a slight obsession with yellow, I just bought a yellow jumper at Zara today...

Red trousers, polkadots and mary janes

So it seems like I'm going backwards with posting outfits. This is what I wore on Easter Saturday, wearing for the first time the red H&M trousers that I craved for for so long and finally got a few weeks back (and together with these came some floral ones!). I was actually wearing these shoes outside for the first time too! They are surprisingly comfortable, but I confess that I was scared, because you know, London wasn't made for heels, at least with all the walking I am used to when out and about. Can you imagine me walking 15mins to the tube station in these?? Nah, didn't think so... So yes, also reserved for special moments and lots of bus riding!
